I watched the clip of defending power play, but given my limited knowledge, not sure what the principles are and where to look for them. It appeared that most, if not all, attacking teams made an individual decision error that resulted in a counter goal.

Watching the power play in attack clips collection video: At a recent online coaches discussion with Bahrain national team head coach Rafa, he mentioned, from memory, that the 3 keys for successful power play are: 1) Good ball control (not sure if this was the first key), 2) Good circulation of the ball, 3) Pass skipping. In the Video, I noticed the following points: 1) Most goals scored from shots from outside the 'D', which could have backlashed if the GK caught the ball for example. 2) No pass skipping were used in those clips. 3) All back-post goals were the result of ball watching by the relevant defender. At the Asian Cup I noticed that goals in favour of the power play attacking teams were the result of sharp movement of the scoring attacker as not many defenders were caught ball watching.

Do you Coaches have any drills for 1-2-1 (diamond) defensive Zonal system. My players seem to get dragged out from this shape/formation in the heat of the moment.

4v3 attacking: Interesting that in all the clips Andre collated here the shot came from outside the D. Would I encourage it or would I encourage patience and a simple far post goal? Probably the latter.

1:3 attacking: Very risky, similar to flying GK in a way. The ball carrying fixo would have no cover is loses the ball, The three at the top have no defensive intentions but they are taking positions and enjoying the show. We see it often in basketball where the point guard dribbles up, the rest of the team mushrooms on the 3 point perimeter standing and watching the point guard show. Need a very safe and sharp fixo for this one playing a defence that doesn't press.
